I began my welding career at the College of San Mateo in California with an AS degree in Welding Technology.  This degree included included over 500 hours of welding training and practice.

 

 After CSM I gained a BS degree in Welding Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  During my 6 years of college I worked as a certified welder/fabricator in a variety of shops around Silicon Valley.  This experience as a hands-on welder gives me an excellent foundation to teach others, develop welding parameters, and troubleshoot all types of welding problems.

After graduating from SLO in 1987 I was employed for 5 years as the lead Welding Engineer at Varian Associates  in Palo Alto, CA.  In this position I dealt with high vacuum welding of all types of metals and developed new laser, TIG, and RSW techniques for joining very thin refractory, precious, and exotic metals for use in microwave power tubes, linear accelerators, X-ray devices, and similar instruments.

I started Fusion Technology in 1993 with the primary focus on training and certification.  Besides training, I also conduct welding inspections, consultations, and weld small-lot, prototype, and difficult assemblies for customers.

​

I am a current American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Educator (CWE), and IPC Certified instructor for J-STD-001 and A610 soldering.
