Front brakes utilize
Willwood Dynalite 4-piston calipers with 10" diameter x 3/4"
thick ventilated rotors. Piston diameters are 1.75" trailing,
and 1.62" leading. The rotors are custom made by Coleman and
attach to the hubs with 7075 aluminum hats that are also custom machined
for the application. The aluminum hubs are supplied by Dave
Bean Engineering. Brake pads are currently Willwood Polymatrix
"B" types. Carbon metallic pads were used previously,
but the Polymatrix units give better feel and are easier to modulate.
Brake overheating has never been an issue so far. |

Rear brakes utilize Willwood Dynalite
calipers (1.38" pistons) with 10-1/4" diameter x 3/8"
thick solid rotors. Rotors are custom made by Coleman, while
the 7075 aluminum hats are also custom machined for the application.
The hubs and axles are modified VW Type III pieces, and the uprights
are vintage Eagle Formula Ford parts. Since the Eagle uprights
were not setup for calipers (the Eagle cars used inboard brakes),
1/2" thick 6061 aluminum plates were welded to the uprights to
act as mounting brackets. After welding, the uprights were re-heat
treated to the T6 condition. |
